The Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento da Faculdade de Medicina (AIDFM) is a non-profit organization that supports medical and translational research at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon. AIDFM offers a broad portfolio of high quality services, ensuring compliance with international regulations and contributing to transparency and operational excellence of the research activity, in particular to the Cardiovascular Centre of the University of Lisbon (CCUL).
The CCUL is a comprehensive cardiovascular research center uniquely positioned to benefit from the resources of the Lisbon Academic Medical Centre. CCUL is devoted to promote innovation and excellence in cardiovascular sciences. Its mission is to contribute to a better understanding of the cardiovascular system in health and disease through interdisciplinary research, to translate this knowledge into clinical practice, to improve patient management and outcomes, care and quality of life, as well as to develop technological innovation, with the goal of playing a leadership in role in training of the next generation of cardiovascular scientists, clinicians and allied health professionals. CCUL is also committed to engage with the public and to be a source of advice for patients organizations and policy makers.
Both AIDFM and CCUL embrace the Lisbon Academic Medical Centre which also includes the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon, the Santa Maria University Hospital and the Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM) with whom share facilities and specific expertise.
